Annual MRI & Hearing Test

Picture taken in the hospital this week..
After Sunday's ER visit, we were back later in the week for Claire's annual MRI

Claire had her annual MRI this week.  Because she is too young to stay still for the 45 minutes it takes to complete the imaging, she had to be sedated.  It's not particularly risky--it's *light* sedation, but it still requires an IV and breathing support, so it gave  Claire an opportunity to sport her very fashionable hospital gown.

Since she was already sedated for the MRI, we also scheduled a specialized hearing test, called an ABR, designed to measure the brain's response to sound.

The results are in, and I'm happy to say there were no surprises.  Her brain looks as expected, and her shunt seems to be working fine.  She passed the hearing test, though she continues to struggle with low-pitched sounds.  The audiologist believes it is because of fluid in her ears, which is what her ENT physician has suggested in the past.

Claire seems to be feeling better, and today has been her best day yet!  I hope this trend continues!  I'm looking forward to having lots of fun with her this weekend!
