This weekend was a big weekend for Claire (and for us)! We attended the Atlanta Abilities Expo. There were a lot of great exhibitors and workshops, and we walked away with a number of ideas and a better sense of how to plan for our future needs.
We gathered information about equipment and seating, looked at adapted vehicles, and learned about home modifications.
One of my favorite exhibitors was 3ELove. 3ELove is an organization dedicated to changing the perception of disability. The company was founded by a brother and sister, both of whom have Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Its mission is to:
- Embrace Diversity
- Educate Society, and
- Empower Eachother
Here are a couple of pics from the afternoon:
We were so glad to spend time at the Expo with a few other hydro families who live in the Atlanta area.
We timed our arrival perfectly and pulled into the parking lot at almost the exact same time as our friends Brittany and Thomas, and their little guy, James.

Claire and James, ready to check out the Expo!
Our first stop was 3ELove's booth.
We bought just a *few* things!
Having a quick lunch.
After lunch, we got Claire's face painted, and as we were waiting in line, we ran into Bertrand.I follow Bertrand's blog, and even though Bertrand and his family live halfway across the country, they flew in to attend the Expo. It was so nice to finally meet them "in real life!"
We also arranged to meet up with our friends, Molly and Brian, and their daughter, Meaghan, who has hydrocephalus, just like Claire. I have a feeling Megs and Claire will be friends for life!
After the Expo, we headed to Babies R Us and bought a new stroller for Claire.
She is getting much too big for her infant carrier & Snap N Go, and she is not crazy about her adaptive stroller (and neither are we--it weighs 50 lbs)!
We bought a light-weight jogging stroller, and it seems to work really well for her!
