Father's Day in the Hospital

Happy first Father's Day to my wonderful husband, Brad! He is unquestionably the world's best dad. I am so proud to call him my husband and am grateful that he is Claire's dad.

Unfortunately, we are spending Brad's first Father's Day in the hospital. We were sooo close to being released, but the doctor decided to keep her one more night because she is still having lots of seizures. (One every 20 minutes.)

We decided to make the best of a bad situation and had a little hospital adventure. I picked up take-out from Brad's favorite restaurant, and we took Claire on a wagon ride around the hospital. We stopped at an outdoor seating area and ate our dinner, then returned to Claire's room.

Not an ideal way to spend Father's Day, but definitely a memorable one.

  1. Way to go guys! I'm sorry you are still in the hospital; and that you are spending Brad's first father's day there; but making the best of not so fun things is what makes these experiences bearable. We have not spent Thanksgiving out of the hospital for 3 years. We decided Matthew liked the tradition, and have started our own new Thanksgiving tradition of eating out at a great resturant close to the hospital that serves traditional thanksgiving food. Sorry that wrote that hole book above; but it makes it part of your new normal. It's a great way to go about life; and it keeps you from cracking under pressure. You guys are great people and great parents! Keep up the fantastic work of being Claire's best advocates!
Blessed are the flexible; for they shall not be bent out of shape :)

  2. Glad you were able to make the best of it. I love Jill's quote or "Blessed are the flexible..."
