Catch of the Day (Day 4)

On our fourth day in Canada, my Uncle Rod took Brad and my brother Ben ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg, which is about 1 hour north of the City.

The boys had to wake up bright and early (6:00 a.m.!!) to get a head start on the fish. Once they arrived at Lake Winnipeg, they had to find the perfect fishing spot.

Then they drilled a hole in the ice.

And the had to test it out before setting up their tent.

They must have found a great spot, because Brad caught a fish pretty quickly! (And a big one at that!)

For lunch, they ate Elk sausage hot dogs. (What's more rustic than that!?)

Then a little more fishing before they called it a day.

A look at their final "haul." (Not too shabby!)

At the end of the day, they headed back to Winnipeg, and my aunt and uncle had the whole family over for a fish fry!

(In case you are wondering, Claire and I spent the day relaxing: We woke up late, spent the morning hanging around the house and playing, then headed out with Gran and Papa G. to visit my grandmother at the retirement home where she lives. After a nice visit, we all drove over to my aunt's house where the boys were already cooking dinner.)

Another perfect day.
